B is for Big Sur

  #AtoZChallenge 2021 April Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter B

South of San Francisco, north of Santa Barbara lies Big Sur. The stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway that pass through Big Sur along the majestic Pacific Ocean is one of the most breathtaking roads I have ever had the pleasure to drive.

Driving down the sunny coastline during the Spring, seeing the unique and beautiful wildflowers against the beauty of the Pacific Ocean is a favorite Big Sur memory.

Realizing how close Mother Nature has come to reclaiming this area as her own through landslides, and the washing out of the only highway that runs through it, help me appreciate the area even more. Being able to view the area before it is reclaimed isn't exactly a  "favorite", but I do feel blessed to have had the opportunity to see so much beauty!

Can you imagine the sound that you would hear if you could step into this picture? The waves crashing against the cliffs, the birds cruising on the breeze and the seals and sea lions barking on the rocks below...this makes the journey along the long and winding PCH worth it and tops my Big Sur favorites!

  2. I’ve heard of Big Sur often but what amazing shots! I’d love to see it but those roads and driving on the “wrong side” of the road....yikes!!

    Visiting from Australia.
