FFF-A Walk in the Sun

After being cooped up in the snow and ice all winter, the sun felt wonderful warming my face as I made my way along the trail. The chickadees danced in and out of the trail looking for grit and the geese honked their greetings as they flew overhead.

As I turned the next bend, I was surprised to see a Great Heron carefully making its way in the field beside me. I watched her for awhile as she hunted in the grass, appreciating her grace, before I continued along the trail.

I wandered over to the marsh to continue my walk, when I came across a Turkey Vulture with a wing span that reminded me of huge elephant ears! He turned to give me a look saying, "You looking at Me?" reminding me of DeNiro's famous line from Taxi Driver.

As I made my way back home, I pondered how freeing life as a bird must be. The freedom to pick up and fly away when the seasons change, to soar above the water feeling the wind in your feathers and to feel the sun on your beak as you bask in the morning sun...

Beth, this is brilliant!!! You not only (thank you) joined in the FFF - but you answered a query I had in my head for about a fortnight now... where's Beth's Looking Glass blog? It had not appeared since the end of last year and I missed it!!! To combine these images and your direct expierience, with the imagination provided by the prompts earns my respect!!! YAM xx
